2026-10-21 release notes

Overview

The 2026-10-21.0 release of Overture data and v2.0.0 of the Overture schema are now available. Places grew 8.5% to 88.4 million features, as BrightQuery coverage expanded across Western Europe and three new places sources were added: Uberall, Birdeye, and OpenTravel.

You can access the datasets, changelog, GERS registry, bridge files, and PMTiles on AWS and Azure at the paths listed below.

The base, buildings, divisions, places, and transportation themes are in GA. The addresses theme is in alpha.

Addresses

• Address count grew from 474,186,531 to 475,263,892, an increase of 0.23%.
• Replaced the countrywide dataset for Uruguay (UY) with 19 regional datasets, one per department, sourced from Direcciones Geográficas del Uruguay. Uruguay now has 1,052,295 addresses, down from 1,059,027, and address_levels coverage in Uruguay rose from 85.76% to 100%.
• Refreshed data from the US National Address Database; gained 935,021 addresses, an increase of 1.11%. New Caledonia (NC) grew from 41,536 to 51,702 addresses, an increase of 24.48%.
• Core field coverage is stable: street 98.52% to 98.52%, number 92.78% to 92.80%, postcode 78.87% to 78.70%, and address_levels_2 76.11% to 78.74%.

• No changes, re-promoted the data from the September release. Building count is 2,533,842,612, and building parts are 4,486,107.

• GERS churn is low across all three types, at 0.45% for division, 0.56% for division_area, and 0.04% for division_boundary.
• Added new ESRI Community Maps sourced name values.
• Made mostly minor, incremental changes to the theme this month.

Places

Places grew 8.5% this release, driven by the expansion of BrightQuery coverage across Western Europe and the addition of three new sources.

• Place count grew from 81,455,423 to 88,418,121, an increase of 8.55%.
• BrightQuery places grew from 10,255,071 to 15,771,907, an increase of 53.8%; the largest additions are France (1,949,361), the United Kingdom (1,447,574), and Spain (1,225,103).
• Added three new sources: Uberall (424,600 places across 217 countries, led by Germany, the United States, and France), Birdeye (11,855 places, mostly in the United States), and OpenTravel (2,698 Hilton properties).
• In the 10 countries BrightQuery now covers (the United Kingdom, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Norway, and Finland), 1,861,523 existing places now carry BrightQuery data in place of their previous Meta, Foursquare, or Microsoft record, and keep their GERS IDs. As a result, primary source counts for those providers fell in those countries.
• Operating status coverage improved, from 23.74% to 32.54% of places, driven mostly by the BrightQuery expansion. Places marked open grew 47.6%, from 18,361,914 to 27,103,902, with BrightQuery places accounting for 4,962,192 of the increase. Places marked permanently_closed grew 70.2%, from 978,895 to 1,666,495, with BrightQuery places accounting for 554,597 of the increase. Places marked temporarily_closed grew from 29 to 3,496. Operating status is now chosen by majority vote across a place's contributing sources, and sources records which source supplied it under the /properties/operating_status property.
• GERS churn is 11.92%, with 8,335,526 places added and 1,372,826 removed, driven by the BrightQuery expansion and removals.
